Fearne Cotton Goes Retro
Filed under: 2009 hairstyles, blonde hairstyles, long hairstyles, straight hairstyles

DJ and television presenter extraordinaire Fearne Cotton is seen here chatting away on her cell after leaving Radio 1 for her morning radio show. This is one girl that is under the radar even in her hometown London, but as you can see that does not stop her from looking fabulous no matter where she is going or what she is doing. Here Fearne is going back to the 80’s in a grunge inspired look that she can pull off because she is just that gorgeous. And she has not paid too much attention to her long blonde blowout, and it is that effortless and carefree style that makes this look so gorgeous. And her appearance is hardly too retro or too casual, but a wonderful blend of casual with some grunge glam accessorizing. And that is a hairstyle that works perfectly with any grunge look.
To get this look, a one length cut with or without bangs will work, and a wash and a blowout is all you need. Use texturizing shampoo and conditioner and this will give your hair a little bit of movement. Run some styling pomade through towel-dried hair making sure to work the product through thoroughly from roots to tips. This will leave you with some beautiful movement upon your finish. You will then blow dry your hair upside down, brushing it out while you do with a flat paddled brush and you want to pay special attention to your roots when you blowdry as this will maximize your volume. After your blowout, create a chic but not too perfect side part, and you are good to go for the day. If you want, you can pinch some of your pomade on your ends to give it some weight and add to your movement, or leave it fresh and fancy free for the rest of the day.

Michelle Williams Dazzles the Crowd on Premiere Night
Filed under: 2009 hairstyles, blonde hairstyles, celebrity hairstyles, red carpet hairstyles

Ever since the death of the late and amazing Heath Ledger, we have not seen much of this girl, mom to his precious daughter Michelle Williams. And for about a year or so after his death, we saw this girl walking the streets of New York with nothing but grief and pain in her eyes. But Michelle is proving here that despite his death, life does go on, and she’s been given more than enough reason to smile again, and here we see her at the premiere of “Shutter Island” at the Ziegfield Theater in New York City looking like her old self. Dressed in a killer dress and showing off her mega watt smile, Michelle Williams has the light back in her eyes again, and it’s certainly been a long time coming. But you don’t need to have natural Manhattan style looks to look as great as she does, because this look is much more effortless than you may think. Yes, not only does this look effortless, but this look IS effortless to achieve with a quick and simple ponytail twist.
You want to start off with clean shiny hair like Michelle has here, and use some texturizing shampoo and conditioner that will hold the look. Then, Michelle has simply pulled back her hair in a sexy ponytail, and not fussed too much about flyaways or concise neatness as this is a bun that is tres chic by being tres minimal. Take your ponytail and twist it into a low bun at the back of your neck, and secure with a few bobby pins. You don’t want to fuss too much with product either here, as this clean and mussy look is the one you are going for. Michelle proves here that if you want to go super cas as well, you can do so, and do so however you like and have a sexy, chic, and elegant look you can take all day or all night. With the bangs you can sweep to the side and pin behind your ear, or like Michelle just use a curling iron and add some wave to them. No muss no fuss, and anything but sleek and slicked back. This is a look that is as relaxed and sexy as you are…go for it!

Heidi Klum Rocks the Pony
Filed under: 2009 hairstyles, Ponytails, blonde hairstyles, celebrity hairstyles, long hairstyles, super model hairstyles

Heidi Klum is seen here once again proving just how magnificent she is, and why she is one of the world’s most famous supermodels. The ever so stylish Project Runway host and mom of FOUR bambinos was seen taking some me time after finishing the show, launching two maternity fashion collections, and well, being a mom. So a well deserved break to a massage in Beverly Hills was the only thing on her agenda this week, and even her down time as you can see is done in style. Yes, looking at her here you would never guess that she has to spend a second sweating over every little calorie, as she still manages to look fantastic. For her spa day, Heidi went for a standard look with her hair piled back and little concern for muss and fuss and even so, she still looks fabulous, as she has the designer duds that take all the focus off of her hair. This just goes to show that yes, you can get away with second day hair without drawing too much attention to yourself.
This look is not one that you need to style or maintain, it’s a simple matter of effortlessly pinning your hair back and out of your way when you are ready to engage in your well earned down time. If you are going to be running your errands or catching up on spa time while running to and fro in the elements, you also want to be sure to run some anti humectants through your hair to protect your hair from the sun’s exposure, and to minimize any drying out from outdoor elements. Post you time, you definitely want to lose the second day hair, and wash and go as you normally would for your day. But one thing Heidi IS proving here is that even supermodels can go a little casual now and again and still look fabulous. And you can too!
Gwen Stefani Strikes a Pose
Filed under: 2009 hairstyles, Ponytails, blonde hairstyles

Here is one hot mama, and ever since she had her second child, her gorgeousness has been way under the radar for far too long. So it’s nice to see her pop out and give us a smile to prove that she is just as gorgeous as ever as she and her husband visit their family in the Buckinghamshire countryside in the UK. And even when she is out and about visiting family, she looks just that fabulous. Does she ever have a bad anything day? Who knows, but what Gwen is doing with this ponytail is a great thing, as it shows that yes, even a second day hair day ponytail can look both sleek AND chic, whether you are taking it day or night.
This look is easy to accomplish, particularly since you are going to skip your shampoo and do this with second day hair. For your front section, take a fine tooth comb dipped in water, and create a razor sharp part about 2-3 inches long. Then, comb the remaining section on the back of your crown, and tease it lightly to give you a bit of height and volume at the back of your head. Use your fine tooth comb to sleekly comb your sides to the back, gathering your back crown section together with your two sides. Secure the pony nice and high, and pull out some bangs to the side in either direction of your part, however you feel most comfortable. Don’t be afraid to tease them up a little bit like Gwen has also done here. Finish the look with a little spritzing of hair gloss, and you have yourself a super easy hairstyle that will look and stay great for any occasion.

Renee Zellweger Cropping a Few Things Off the Holiday To Do List
Filed under: 2009 hairstyles, blonde hairstyles, celebrity hairstyles, short hairstyles

This is one girl that I just love to see out and about these days, as she was once considered one of the dowdiest women in Tinseltown after her homely appearance with the Bridget Jones Diary. And now that the movie made her a household name, her style seems to be almost effortless as she banishes that dowdy look and proves to the world that Bridget was just a character. It seems that no matter where or when she is spotted these days, she is simply knocking them dead. And here she is doing just that while doing a bit of grocery shopping for her holiday festivities. She was seen coming out of the Bay Cities Italian Deli with a bag full of goods looking radiant and happy, and not just because she looks fabulous and chic, but because of the holiday season. And what she is doing here with her look is showing that short hair can really work FOR you if you want to pull off an edgy carefree look this holiday season. And though I haven’t loved too many of Renee’s looks, this is one look that I have always loved on her, and out of all of her looks I think this one suits her the most.
You can get this look first by getting the right cut, so ask your stylist for longer length in the back and at your sides, but get some volume pumped into the top with shaggy layers cut into your crown. To style then, you can use some styling wax on towel dried hair, and blow dry your hair with a round bristle brush. This look is sleek, so you aren’t going to worry too much about volume here. When your hair is dried, spritz some antihumectant spray on your locks, and then run the flat iron over your entire head, bending the ends only slightly for some face framing style.
By using the flat iron, you will lock in the antihumectant so your hair stays straight and sleek all day long, and it also adds some extra shine to that gorgeous style. The blowout as well will give you the gorgeous movement that Renee has here in her hair, and this will keep you looking happy and carefree as you move through the holiday season.

A New Girl to Gossip About?
Filed under: 2009 hairstyles, Curly Hairstyles, blonde hairstyles, celebrity hairstyles

Well well, it does appear there may be a new gossip girl in town, as Willa Holland was seen on the set of Gossip Girl poking her head out of a trailer on set in downtown Manhattan. The former OC actress was seen meeting Upper East Side style standards, and was formerly seen on this show when she played a bad influence on Little J. Is she back to stir up some more trouble? Looks like, and if she is looking this hot, it may well be that she will have no trouble doing so. This casual look with bouncy curly hair is about as in as boyfriend jeans right now, and one that you can take from day to night in a flash. This look is sexy, vampy, and will get you everything you want on any given night on the town.
The secrets here are tons of product, tons of curls, and tons of teasing. Start off with curl enhancing shampoo and conditioner, and use a lightweight curling mousse to lock in some extra curl. Run some styling pomade on your palms, and then run them through your hair from front to back. You will then set your hair in pin curls all over your head. Use a blowdryer on low with a diffuser to dry your locks to 100% dry. This may take some time, but the end result will be well worth it. When your curls are dry, spritz some extra hold hairspray on your curls before you take out the pins. The result will be a voluminous head of wavy bouncy curls. You can brush these out to smooth them out as Willa has here, or tease them whichever way you want for a hairstyle that is voluminous, sexy, and vampy for any night on the town.

Taylor Momsen Mixes it Up
Filed under: 2009 hairstyles, blonde hairstyles, celebrity hairstyles

Little J is really growing up before our eyes, and this is a girl that will definitely be losing the Little J status if she keeps showing up to parties looking like this. Here she is with a look that could not be more cutting edge, and is glamorous fashion mixed with a little bit of age appropriate edge. Gotta say, love it Little J and keep it coming. For the sake of fashion, Taylor Momsen arrived for a taping of MTV’s “It’s On with Alexa Chung” in a long green collared shirt, thigh highs, and heels underneath a long navy green fur coat, and she looks uber fab. And I just love how long her hair is getting, as it is making her chic look even more versatile. And here for her appearance on the MTV video, Taylor chose to veer from her usual straight and sleek mane, and complemented her stunning attire with a sleek look that is neither too wavy or too straight. It’s all in the casual here, but casual elegance is the marker of this look, and you can get away with second day hair with this one if you want, or wash it and texturize it as you go to dirty it up a bit.
To get this look, you want to have a layered cut with long concave layers cut that angle toward your features rather than away from them. Use texturizing shampoo and conditioner to give your hair some bend, and blow dry your hair from roots to ends with a round and soft bristle brush. After your blowdry, you can run some styling pomade through your hair to give it some additional texture and movement.
Then, use a 1 ½ “ curling iron to put some bend and wave in your hair, but here you really just want to run the iron through your hair, and not focus too much on curl. Keep the curling on for just a second or two, and create a lovely, soft wave that will last all day. You will then brush these waves out for a soft almost ethereal look, and a sexy but not too fussy side part will add instant vamp appeal to your overall look of casual elegance. Finish the look with some extra hold hairspray on your wavy ends and along your part.

Happy Thanksgiving Whitney Port!

The fabulous fashionista and DVF worker extraordinaire Whitney Port from the hit show “The City” is seen here showing just how much DVF made the right decision when they took this girl on. Whitney was spotted donning an 80’s ensemble in this season’s hottest lingerie inspired looks while enjoying a night out at Voyeur nightclub in Los Angeles. And as usual, she focused more on fashion than hair, as this girl with the high end bohemian taste let her outfit do the talking while she merely clipped her hair back in a loose and wavy half up and half down do. Though she is completely contemporary retro, she if following the hippy trend of not appearing immaculately styled, but for Whitney, it doesn’t seem to matter whether she is on the red carpet or hanging on the streets of New York, she always looks amazing. And it is this girl next door look that really seems to be the big trend right now, which should be a key to you when you are mastering your own signature style. A little bit of simple goes a long way here.
Whitney’s hair has been styled in the half up half down look, in a very casual manner that has no muss or fuss. And though she may look a little rumpled, the look seems to work with the rest of her style with an eclectic mix of lace and leather. This look is easy to accomplish with a very straight blow out, hang your head upside down when blowdrying to get the volume that Whitney has here, and simply pin back the top sections of your hair for an easy and casual look that still looks pulled together. You can run a wide inch barrel curling iron on your ends you leave down for a soft and sultry sexy wave that is both casual and elegant, no matter what look your attire is showcasing for the day.

Drew Barrymore Puts the Sexy On
Filed under: 2009 hairstyles, Ponytails, blonde hairstyles, celebrity hairstyles, red carpet hairstyles

Drew Barrymore is one girl whose style you just can’t refuse, as she looks super fabby whether she is grunged out with jeans and plaid, or stepping out onto the red carpet in a fabulous dress. And fabulous it was, as Drew attended the AFI FEST 2009 screening of “Everybody’s Fine” held at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California. She was seen wearing a smashing purple dress vis a vis Victoria Beckham, and pinned her hair back in a casual ponytail that looked anything but. And this just proves just how relaxed Drew’s style is, even when she’s rocking a killer gown on the red carpet. Yes, ponytails ARE big right now, whether it is a formal night out, or a rocking Saturday morning in. This just goes to show once again that yes, you can get away with second day hair without drawing too much attention to yourself, and if you WANT to draw attention to yourself, you only need a smashing designer dress to boot.
To get this look, take a fine tooth comb and create a sleek part on the side. Dampen your soft bristle brush as you pull this ponytail back, and let it sit nice and low on the back of your neck like Drew has here. Once you are done that, you only need to sweep your bangs off to the side like Drew has done, and pin them just above your ear with a pretty jewelled pin, or with a bobby pin the same shade as your hair. So when you are gearing up for party mode, go ahead and spend more time having fun since you won’t have to spend too much time on your hair. Even if you arrive a few minutes late looking THIS hot, you will be surprised at the positive reaction.

Sienna Miller’s Bad Hair Day
Filed under: 2009 hairstyles, Ponytails, blonde hairstyles, celebrity hairstyles

Sienna Miller just can’t seem to cut a break, but you have to admit, she brings it on herself. At least she has good fashion to fall back on if nothing else, and she certainly proves that here. She’s seen here in New York City taking her dog Bess for a walk with some friends, and hanging around Olive’s for a coffee break. And despite the obvious bad hair day, she is looking cute as ever with white wing tipped loafers and a double breasted peacoat proving once again, if you have the style, you can swing a bad hair day now and then. You almost want to hate someone that looks THAT great even when she is in prime dog walking mode, but feel however you want about Sienna, you can’t hate this look. No, but you can take a few lessons from her when it comes to looking effortlessly fabulous no matter what your day’s events hold. And if you think it looks a little too effortless, think again because not only does this look effortless, but this look IS effortless to achieve with a quick and simple ponytail twist.
Sienna here has simply pulled back her hair in a sexy ponytail, and not fussed too much about flyaways or concise neatness and then piled it into a double ponytail on top of her head to keep her hair free and out of her way for her jaunt with Bess. And she has taken care of all of her little flyaways with a very pretty and very chic headband to boot, or, the Hollywood look of sunglasses as headband. But it’s definitely a cute look that you can model as well. If you want to go super cas as well, you can do so, and do so however you like. You can still pull this one off in the everyday if you have the right hair accessory to pair your hair with for a chic and sassy everyday casual look that really only takes a few minutes.
