Cynthia Nixon Has a Blast From the Past

Yes, they’re back, and we couldn’t be more excited. As filming for the sequel to Sex and the City Movie continued this week, we couldn’t help but wonder what the girls were up to. All of our favorite New York starlets were dressed to the hilt in 80’s flashback year, making me wonder if we will be seeing some history in the lives of these girls friendship. Could they be filming a scene that will play out as a “memory” of sorts on screen? At this point we can only guess, but one thing that will never change is that no matter how you dress up our girl Miranda, Cynthia Nixon, she always looks fabulous. And I am loving this pixie bob that she is sporting here. Cynthia is kind of famous for having the most changed look over the course of this series, but she always seems to look great, and I am loving this bob on her. Out of all of her looks I think this one suits her the most. You can get this look first by getting the right cut, so ask your stylist for longer length in the back and at your sides, but get some volume pumped into the top with shaggy layers cut into your crown.

You can also ask for some 80’s inspired sideburns like Cynthia has here. To style then, you can use some styling wax on towel dried hair, and blow dry your hair with a round bristle brush. This look is sleek, so you aren’t going to worry too much about volume here, as your layers will do that work for you. When your hair is dried, spritz some antihumectant spray on your locks, and then run the flat iron over your entire head, bending the ends only slightly for some face framing style. By using the flat iron, you will lock in the antihumectant so your hair stays straight and sleek all day long, and it also adds some extra shine to that gorgeous style. For some extra shine for a night out, you can spritz on some glossing serum for a shiny, sexy finish that will instantly glam up any night on the town.

Isla’s Hair Went to Splitsville!

In most cases we reserve the term splitsville for the town that the torrid couples of Tinseltown visit when their relationships come to a screeching halt. In this case, we are using splitsville in reference to the bad things that are happening to the ends of Isla’s long locks. She always manages to look so fresh, but here she is seen with messy bedhead red hair and some split ends that are way beyond out of control.

This is one of those cases girls where you go to the closet and pull out your cute hat collection so that if you really need to skip both the wash AND the style, you only need to tuck your hair, and your messy ends, into the cute hat of your choice. And since many of us are living in the colder temperatures, we need to take extra precautions when it comes to hair care and hair maintenance. The ends have a tendency to dry out faster than our roots, and in colder temps, the pace at which this occurs seems to be exponentially faster than in the summer months.

Be sure to treat your hair with hot oil treatments at least once a week, and these are treatments that you can do with an at-home kit from your local pharmacy. Conditioning your hair every day with your daily wash is another must, and you can use anti-humectant spray on your ends before you head out. This will lock the cuticle over your hair shaft and give it an extra seal of protection before you go out and brave the elements. Split ends can happen to anyone, and in any weather, no matter how great your cut is. Preventive measures are your best defense!
