If you were to ask this question of Ashlee Simpson, she will give you a resounding no. And no, not because she may have some extra baby weight after giving birth last fall, no in fact Ashlee is looking pretty incredible. But Ashlee is standing by her sister Jessica Simpsonís recent weight gain and telling the world to stop talking about it.
So take note, if you want to bash Jessica Simpsonís newfound weight gain, you will have to take it up with her feistier counterpart, Ashlee Simpson because sheís just not gonna take it. Kinda makes you wonder, why isnít Jessica standing up for herself? Maybe because while she was gaining all that weight, she lost a few pounds in her spinal column?
But the weight backlash comes from a recent public appearance that Jessica Simpson made, that has fashion watchers all over cringe. Why? Because if there was ever a reason NOT to wear this seasonís high waisted jeans, Jessica Simpson has given it to us, and then some. If you were wondering what the crime is with wearing the new high waisted trouser then you perhaps havenít seen her sporting this fashion trend, and if you are anywhere near meal time when you read this, you are probably better off.
But in a recent sighting when hanging out at a bar with her sister Ashlee, Jessica was sporting this unfortunate ensemble, leggings that do NOT do many favors for her, and the token big bag that she is trying to use to hide those legs behind. But the aforementioned denim doozies have landed Jessica on the cover of US Weekly as a before pic for her diet come back to be.
Even Mary Hart type folks are celebrating Jessica for being so Ďproud of her curvesí. And while Jessica may or may not be proud of her curves, her sister is not too happy about the fact that people are commenting on them at all. Ashlee Simpson says, stop being so mean to my sister, and I MEAN it! And, like all celebrities, Ashlee has gone to her blog to dis the folks dissing her sweet sister:
"I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister's weight. Since when did a woman's weight become newsworthy," Ashlee says: "A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure. All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you're a celebrity, there shouldn't be a different standard."
What do we think, does Ashlee have a point? I am going to say no on this one. There actually IS a different standard for celebrities. Am I wrong in saying that? I donít think so, because Jessica rose to fame because she was a blonde bombshell. In fact her brightest moments in the starlit sky of Tinseltown were shining when she was sporting super short denim shorts and a tie-waisted Daisy Duke outfit.
No no, this is a girl who actually capitalized on the fact that she was a perfect size zero, so should we be a little sympathetic when she gains a few pounds? Donít think so. I am not going to go so far as to throw the weight slings, but I will suggest Jessica try a new pair of pants. Or a skirt. Or black. Yes, all black, much more slimming Jessica.
